Novato Park project

At the Heart of it All

One of the key features that defines this landscape is the one-hundred and fifty foot tall Ammo Hill. Ammo Hill dominates nearly half of the total land area of the park. The North Marin Water District has built a large water tower into the hill and as a result, the top of the hill was leveled. The “mesa” is now very accessible to visitors and provides spectacular views.

Many visitors already take advantage of the great bay and mountain views Ammo Hill provides despite being technically "off-limits." A lack of proper signage leaves the hill's equipment exposed. We are working to find ways to create safer conditions for the hikers who visit the hill daily while keeping our water tank safe and secure.
